DAY 2 – Kea Island

Kea or Tzia is the “gateway” to the Cyclades, the “Far West” of the Cyclades, and the closest to Attica. It has a beautiful natural environment, the originality of its villages, and memories of past times that fascinate visitors, as thousands of years of history unfold before their eyes.

Suggested visits:

Ancient Karthea, Karthea Beach, Kea Lion, Sounion, Panagia Kastriani.

DAY 3 – Syros Island

This is the island where Greek tradition and Western influence harmoniously blend. Ermoupoli (meaning “the city of Hermes”) is the capital of the island and was the country’s first commercial and industrial center in the 19th century. This glorious past is evidenced in the public buildings (the Town Hall, the Customs Office, and the “Apollo” theater), in the neoclassical houses, and in the beautiful squares.

Suggested visits:

Ano Syros, Armeós beach, music festivals, Agathopes Beach.

DAY 4 – Mykonos Island

Mykonos is one of the most beautiful islands in the Cyclades, worth visiting any time of the year. However, it’s essential to enjoy its glory days in the summer when it literally turns into an international village, when its followers turn it into a spectacle worth seeing, when one can experience the unique feeling that everything and everyone are in Mykonos. Surrounded by Tinos, Syros, Paros, and Naxos, this small island stands out, known worldwide as one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Mediterranean. Remember that Mykonos is well-known for its vibrant nightlife, full of bars and dance venues. Moli de Sal and Beso.

DAY 5 – Delos Island & Rinia Island

The island of Delos, located near Mykonos, is one of the most important mythological and historical sites in Greece. The excavations on the island are among the most extensive in the Mediterranean. It was one of the holiest places in Greece. Greek mythology says it emerged gripped by Poseidon’s trident but was a floating island until Zeus chained it to the seabed to make it a safe place for Leto, sheltered from Hera’s jealousy, for the birth of Apollo and Artemis. We suggest arranging a guide in advance to explore this magnificent island. Note that the law prohibits swimming and diving in Delos.

Rhenia is one of the smaller islands in the Cyclades and is located southwest of Mykonos. It’s a fairly dry island with some lovely beaches. It is situated next to the important island of Delos, the archaeological center of the Cyclades. The channel between the islands is 100m wide so you can stop for a swim and enjoy the beach here before or after visiting Delos.

DAY 6 – Paros Island

Paros, the third largest island in the Cyclades, has become a major tourism center in recent years. Hills surround the center and southeast of the island, which is predominantly agricultural and occupied by endless vineyards that enclose the famous Parian Marble or Paros Marbles.

The coastline has numerous small coves and two large bays, Naoussa in the north and Parikia in the west. Parikia is the capital and main port of the island of Paros. This is one of the most typical Cycladic settlements, distinguished by its narrow cobblestone paths, ancient churches, small shops, and houses in blue and white.

DAY 7 – Serifos or Sifnos Island or Kythnos

The island of Serifos, with its rugged mining sites steeped in history, has its own distinctive style within the Cyclades. The island radiates a tranquil atmosphere and speaks directly to your senses. Despite its characteristics of arid and wild land, Serifos is gracefully embraced by the deep blue colors of the Aegean Sea and has some magnificent beaches.

The island of Sifnos is known for having the highest pottery production in Greece, meaning you will find many workshops throughout the town. You’ll get to know the village of Kamares, where near the bay, you’ll find many bars, shops, and bakeries where you can stock up for your journey.

Kythnos has modest beauty. It’s not famous, you won’t see pictures of Kythnos on the cover of magazines. However, it is truly beautiful and genuine. It’s accessible, friendly, cheerful, and hospitable. An off-the-beaten-path holiday destination with few tourists, this is one of its greatest virtues.

Maritimes conditions

General conditions

There are two dominant winds in Greece, and these can produce conditions that require sailing experience.

  1. Meltemi: This wind mainly affects the Lavrion region during the summer months. It can vary from 15 to 40 knots for periods of up to 5 days. The winds blow in various directions, mainly from the northeast, north, and northwest, starting in May. They peak in July and decrease in September.

  2. Sirocco: This southeast wind is more common in winter and corresponds to the passage of a depression. Occasionally, it can blow in April or at the end of October.

 Historical Weather

 Tides

In the Eastern Mediterranean, the tidal range is very low, ranging from 30 cm to 60 cm, including the variation in sea level due to atmospheric pressure and dominant winds.
