ALYSE AREHART, CHEF: Alyse is a Florida native who grew up in a small town before spending ten years training in Miami. She has always enjoyed traveling and exploring, and she discovered her passion for the natural world while earning a degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Miami. Alyse has had various professional experiences as a waitress, in scientific labs, with nonprofit environmental organizations, and in ecotourism, but she ultimately found that her superior service skills and outdoor spirit fit perfectly in the yacht industry. Since 2015, she has sailed the East Coast of the United States, the Bahamas, and throughout the Caribbean. Since 2017, she has been in the United States Virgin Islands.
Alyse is committed to responsibly sourcing food, creating inspired preparations, and serving colorful and nutritious meals that give her guests the energy to seize the day. She attended a “Farm Culinary” course in Washington state, earned a culinary certificate from Ashburton Cookery School in the English countryside, cooked locally at a fine dining establishment, and for World Central Kitchen’s relief efforts on the 19th anniversary. Her culinary style is influenced by Caribbean flavors, many of which are shared in Florida cuisine. She loves incorporating these regional ingredients into her menus to create playful and enjoyable dishes for her audience.
Alyse’s favorite aspects of the Virgin Islands are the lovely people, the coastline views, and the fresh tropical fruits. She’s also grateful for the reefs and waters on which her industry depends, and she does what she can to encourage their conservation. On charter, when she’s not in the kitchen, you’ll find her leading snorkeling and hiking excursions, yoga sessions, or playing the ukulele. She’s an easygoing spirit who enjoys making people feel at home while showing them the vacation of their dreams.
